This lovely succulent fits the category of 'interesting small perennials' rather than true alpine. It has rosettes of pale blue grey leaves and red and yellow urn shaped flowers in the summer. The leaf tips are often pink tinged.
It is perennial but may not survive hard frosts. Grow in a light position in a greenhouse, or outdoors in a sunny spot in the summer. Keep the compost fairly dry over winter. This makes an attractive container plant for a bright and sunny position indoors or outdoors in milder weather.
